Candida does have the ability to change its morphology as a means of survival.

Candida albicans has been known to shift to Candida glabrata as a result of the over use of fluconazole.

There have also been a few studies on mice that were purposely infected with one species of Candida, and later were found to be infected with an entirely different species.

I have not seen any studies suggesting a switch to Candida krusei but I suppose it is possible.
