Antibiotics are made to target certain species of pathogenic bacteria. Others are made to target many species and are known as broad spectrum antibiotics. In actual use they tend to also kill your good bacteria, which can trigger a yeast infection. Taking a probiotic with them helps to reduce the damage to your good bacteria and quite often prevents a yeast infection.

Some doctors recommend taking probiotics while on antibiotics, others don't. So it is probably best to consult with your doctor.

If you decide to take the probiotic it is best to take it away from the antibiotic.
