Can Candida yeast die off cause headaches?

by Ginney
(Ohio)

I had an MRI for a headache and it was negative for anything serious but I’m still having weird head pressure, and I wondered if it’s yeast because I also have sinus issues and popping ears but there was no sign of infection on the MRI.

Sometimes, depending upon the individual and the severity of infection, Candida yeast can cause a Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction, commonly known as die-off. This is caused by toxins being released from the yeast cell as it dies, which causes inflammation.

Most people report flu-like symptoms or a fever.

Other symptoms can include:

Vaginal yeast infection symptoms, such as itching, burning, or pain, that temporarily gets worse

Headaches

Skin reactions

Muscle pain

Anxiety

Low energy

A sore throat

Intense sugar cravings

Typically these symptoms subside in a week or two although sugar cravings can take up to a month.
