A female and husband have a vaginal yeast/genital infection. What meds are best for treatment???

The best way to determine which medications would be best is to have a vaginal secretion test done. In this test, your healthcare provider sends your vaginal fluid to a laboratory to be cultured for yeast. This test is also called a culture test and can assist in identifying the precise type of yeast causing the infection. Like a test for bad bacteria, this test will guide therapy choices.

Once the species is identified, they can prescribe the standard medications that work best for that species. In many cases, they can also test antifungal medications against the yeast you are infected with to see what works the best.
