What can I do to be proactive for oral yeast ?

by Kim
(Florida)

Hi Dan,

I have mild asthma now and take a steroid inhaler. I rinse and brush my teeth right right after using the inhaler. I have a constant bad taste on tongue, mouth sore and was suspicious of oral thrush starting. Dr. gave me Nystatin to use just in case.

What can I do to be proactive to prevent oral thrush, since I have to be on the steroid inhaler?
Should I use the natural remedies you suggested like coconut oil or other oils regularly? I already take biofase and cp-1 daily.

Thank you,
Kim

Hi Kim,

Yes, I would do exactly as you suggest. Adding the oils, especially coconut oil would be a great preventative. Take a tbls or two a day and let it melt in your mouth before swallowing. Coconut oil has anti-fungal qualities and is also a good fat to eat.

Brushing your teeth twice a day and scrubbing your tongue would also help. You could follow that up with a mouthwash such as non-alcohol Listerine which contains Thymol. Thymol also has anti-fungal qualities.

Any other questions let me know.
