Red or green lentils contain 25grams of carbs per half cup. They also contain 4 grams of fiber which would bind 4 grams of carbs giving a net total of 21 grams of carbs.

Generally, I recommend a person consume 50 to 60 grams of carbs per day to maintain red and white blood cell function. White blood cells are a very important part of your immune system and you need your immune system functioning at its best when treating yourself for Candida yeast.

It is best to split the daily carb amount over the course of three meals. So a person could have a 1/4 cup of lentils or less, with a meat and a low carb fresh vegetable, such as broccoli, and not have any problems.
