The doses are very high which is what you need when combating yeast infections. 1 gram of this probiotic powder contains 260 billion good bacteria. An adult scoop is .8 grams and has 200 billion bacteria. A child's scoop is .1 gram and contains 25 billion bacteria. However, there is no maximum dose for adults or children so if you have to, they can take an adult scoop or two everyday or anywhere in between. It's all a matter of what works for them and you if you're going to take this. Everyone is different when it comes to doses because no two peoples intestinal bacterial profiles are identical. One person may have more strains than another or less, or more bacteria or less overall amount than another. The two biggest reasons for this variation is because of diet and the use of antibiotics. Therefore, you have to find the dose that works for you. To find your probiotic powder dose or your child's dose, start at 1 scoop first thing in the morning taken with non chlorinated water. Do not eat for at least 30 minutes after. If after 5 days you are not happy with the results, add a scoop at bedtime and continue for another 5 days.
